Is 1 hour of drawing practice enough? ›

Beginners should start drawing with one hour and gradually work up to more. At the peak of their abilities, expert performers only do about four hours of practice a day. Requires focus: You should not be able to multitask during the activity.

Some may want to draw 20 minutes while others 2 hours or even all nighter. If you wanna progress fast (even if you have a busy shedule, a family…), do not focus on HOW LONG you need. But draw as long as your heart tells you to. That way, sketching is going to be your lifestyle and be part of your daily routine.

Art students who would like to become fine artists, start their art education in art schools from the age of 9 or 10. By the end of this school, which takes 4 to 5 years, they have very good drawing, painting, decorative arts, composition, and sculpting skills as well a firm knowledge of the history of arts.

You may not see these improvements everyday, but you will over time. Creating a drawing habit, and sticking with it, will improve your skills – it's almost guaranteed. Remember, drawing is not a “talent” that some are born with and others are not. It is a skill that anyone can learn and develop.
